Comments : Wow! Here it is 43 years later and I just now found out the Marines were not the only Hawk Battalions in Vietnam. I enjoy your site and will surf the site more later. I was the Mess Sgt.with A Btry 2nd LAAM Bn from 1963 to 1966. We left 29 Palms CAm July 1965 and landed in Chu Lai. Iwas in the advanced party that moved A Btry and st up at Ky Hoa. January 1966 I went to A Btry 1st. LAAM Bn and was at Hia Van Pass until Oct 1967 when I went home. I'm sure I was the longest serving Mess Sgt. in the Marine LAAM Battalions. It was a great Unit. I send my best regards to all HAWK soldiers and Marines. You have a very good web site. Bob Milby Sgt. USMC 1960 to 1965 1Sgt retired US Army

I was assigned to B Btry in November 1967 near Long Bien and then on to Chu Lai in mid 1968. I was a 22J20 mis and launcher mech. My best friend in Nam was Patrick Hugh Herring (sp?). I was a friend of Don Thrumbauer who was wounded in a granade attack and sent home around May of 1968. Please let me know if you know how I can contact them. gmortimer1@yahoo.com

I arrived in country the first week of Jan 68 with the 6/71st and shortly after arrival was moved to the6/56th stationed on Hontre Island. I rotated to the states 29 March, 1969. I was a 16 Bravo, Hawk Missile Crewman. The "AMERICAL DIVISION" will always be remembered by me as the finest unit I had the privilege to serve in during my entire military service.
